Ahhh October, its something about this time of year that makes me fall in love with life even more. Leaves are changing colors, the air starts to feel crisp, combines and tractors are hard at work in the fields. Hunters are dressed in camo, trips to wineries, apple orchards and pumpkin patches are on the agenda. My oven gets fully utilized cooking all the yummy apple desserts and fall comfort foods. The list could go on and on about all my favorites of fall. This morning as I sat in my tree stand, I watched as the sun began to rise and melt the early morning frost off of the leaves, witnessing those leaves slowly drop to the earth and seeing the steam rise high above the trees. Before we know it all the leaves will have dropped and the trees will be barren. Snow will soon lay a fresh blanket of white on the ground and the holidays will be here before we know it. The last six months of the year always seem to fly by faster then the first six. Life in general keeps moving faster and Ryan and I don't even have kids yet. Life responsibilities overwhelm us sometimes and I think we forget to take a minute and just enjoy the seasons. I know I myself need to just chill and realize if the house doesn't get clean or laundry doesn't get done, its ok, because all of those chores can wait. Enjoying this season, enjoying those moments of fun and adventure, thats what is important.
We have been a little MIA on the blog and with the start of harvest you can understand why. This time of year tends to be hectic and a break from technology sometimes is a must. Soon we will have some posts about Ryan and how he farms including video of how he gets in and out of the tractor. As I write this post Ryan is in the field, and my senses feel overwhelmed by the smell of a pork roast simmering in my Le Creuset and two loafs of apple breading fresh out of the oven. Dinner will hopefully be one for the books for my hard working hubby and I got to enjoy the afternoon cooking for the man I love.
My mother is an amazing photographer and she always captures the essence of fall in her photos this time of year so take a minute and enjoy the beauty of autumn! I know I will!
