On Monday Ryan and I had our 29 week baby check up. We met for the first time the nurse midwife at our hospital and loved her! Everything is right on track and looking good. Baby's heart rate is 150, and I am only measuring one week ahead now instead of two. Ive noticed some change in growth in my stomach but not nearly as much as I did at our last checkup. Baby is still very very active throughout the whole day and likes to kick his dad in the face at bedtime when Ryan rests his head on my belly. We laugh at how much this baby moves around and it still amazes me when I can see all the movement on the outside.
Along with the normal checkup for baby I also received my TDap and flu vaccine. The flu shot made me feel run down for about 24 hours, but after that I was back to running on all cylinders. We also had some education on labor and delivery. Talking about certain options for our birth plan and what to expect over the next few weeks. Ive decided to have a plan but not a set plan. Im going in with an open mind considering anything can happen when it comes to labor and delivery. Ideally I want to have an unmedicated birth. But if I wind up with a c-section or needing some sort of pain relief we will deal with it if that comes about. The nurse midwife was really excited to hear that I want to try for an unmedicated birth and highly recommended Hypnobirthing to help with the pain management. She pointed me in the direction of a book and cd so once that arrives I'll start learning about it.
Im feeling pretty awesome! I have some minor aches and pains. Some days are better then others but for the most part I can't complain about being pregnant. I've said it before and I will say it again, I love being pregnant! I'm still staying active with crossfit 5-6 days a week. Since I hit the third trimester I feel like my workouts have improved, along with my movement. Some might think I am nuts but I love when we have grinder workouts, aka longer intense workouts. Give me a 30-40 minute WOD any day versus a short, high intense workout. I loved grinder workouts prior to being pregnant but with this style of workout I can find my pace early, stick with it, control my breathing and then when its almost to the end really crank up the intensity to finish. I honestly think crossfit is one of the main contributors to why I feel so well with this pregnancy. I'm hoping to continue up to the day I deliver. I have been sleeping fairly well. I have some days where I sleep really well and others where I toss and turn. No real specific cravings, food just taste good! Starting to get some hot flashes off and on especially at work when I have my mask on, but again pretty minor. The cool weather has been my friend!
Harvest got started and then came to an abrupt halt with soybeans not being ready and all the rain we have been having. It seems odd to be into October and have Ryan home for dinner every night. I know he wants to be in the field getting the field work done but I'm happy to have my best friend home every night and snuggled up next to me at a normal bed time. We have been able to get the nursery filled with furniture and slowly its coming together. We have a project to make some shelves for above the dresser and paint a small book shelf we just purchased. Its been fun finding things to decorate the room and I'm loving how its turning out. This Sunday I have my first baby shower that my boss and coworkers are having for me. I'm looking forward to filling the nursery with items off of our registry and feeling a little bit more prepared for the arrival of our sweet baby! Despite all of the turmoil going on in our world as of lately, I feel pretty blessed to have the life I have. I'm so grateful to God for my wonderful husband whom I fall more in love with each day, for our home in Minnesota, and that God continues to provide for us and keep us safe. As our world will continue to worsen, its hard not to be scared but we who believe knows how the story will end. The good Lord will prevail and we keep our hope and faith in him.
At the end of the month we will have our next baby check along with our 32 week ultrasound to check the location of my placenta. After that our appointments will be every 2 weeks and then once a week starting at 36 weeks. These next couple months will fly by! Enjoy photos of the baby bump and some of the fall fun we have been having!
